Suicide attack on checkpost claims 3 lives in Lakki Marwat — Video
LAKKI MARWAT: A suicide blast took place on a police check post killed three in Lakki Marwat on Thursday, the second day of Eid.
According to reports, 18 were injured and three killed after a suicide bomber rammed an explosive laden car into a check post outside the Dara Pizoo police station in Lakki Marwat.
According to police sources, the suicide bomber wanted to target the Dara Pizoo police station in Laki Marwat but before he could hit the check post, police men opened fire on the bomber upon which the suicide bomber blew up the explosive laden vehicle.
The huge intensity blast partially damaged the police station along with two houses and 12 shops.
The injured, including two children and seven policemen, were shifted to a nearby hospital while rescue workers tried to recover police personnel trapped under the rubble, with army personnel dispatched to aid in the rescue efforts.
Police cordoned off the area and started investigation while arresting one suspect in a search operation. No casualities were reported, so far.
Dara Pizoo is considered to be a sensitive area as it connects areas of Dera Ismail Khan and South Waziristan.
Earlier seven people were killed in a firing incident on a passenger van in Makhizai area of Lower Kurram Agency, reported Express 24/7 on Thursday.
Local officials said that around 16-18 people were travelling in a passenger bus from Upper Kurram Agency towards Lower Kurram Agency when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the right-hand side of the van.
The victims were all from the minority Shia community, a local official said.
