Chakdarra: 6 Afghans arrested
CHAKDARRA: During a joint search operation, the police and security forces arrested six Afghan nationals from a refugee camp, official and local sources said.
The sources said that the search was carried out at the Chakdarra refugee camp following intelligence reports that two soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) had come there to celebrate Eid with their families. The arrested ANA soldiers Abdul Ghaffar and Khan Mohammad among six Afghan citizens were apprehended during the operation, the sources said, adding that around 270 people residing at the Chakdarra camp were working for the ANA and other security apparatuses in Afghanistan.
There are reports that hundreds of Afghan youth residing at the Timer, Mayar, Tor and Chakdarra refugees camps in Lower Dir district are working for the Afghan security forces. “There are suspicions about the activities of the people working for the Afghan security forces and their data is being collected in view of the prevailing security situation,” the sources said.
The sources said that the Afghan refugees have been asked to get registered in case they intended to leave the camp for more than three days and inform the officials concerned on their return.
