Karachi: MQM activist among two shot dead
Karachi: Two people, including an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, were killed in separate incidents in the city late on Saturday night.
Rehan, 30, was shot dead in Lines Area in the Brigade police limits. Police said Rehan was standing outside his house when armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed him with bullets and fled. The injured was immediately taken to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
The murder caused tension in the area, where armed men resorted to aerial firing and had shops closed. Investigators termed Rehan’s murder a target killing. They added that the deceased was an MQM activist and had suffered multiple bullet wounds.
Another man, Abdul Karim, was shot dead in Hussain Hazara Goth in the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police limits.
Police said Karim was the owner of a perfume shop. He was at his shop late on Saturday night when armed men riding a motorcycle came there and shot and killed Karim before escaping. Karim left behind a widow and two children. Police said they were investigating the motive behind the murder.
