Lahore: Army officer found dead
LAHORE: A 47-year-old army officer was recovered dead from his house in Nisar Colony of South Cantonment on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Lt Colonel Suhail Ashraf.
South Cantt SHO said that victim’s wife, Shagufta Nasreen, along with her son went to the house of her brother to celebrate Eid on August 24, and called him on August 29. On Friday’s last, deceased’s brother-in-law Arshad Khokhar came to his house to see him but Suhail neither opened the door nor attended his call. Later, he contacted his sister Shagufta who told him that Suhail was at home. Later, the family informed the Military Police (MP) about the situation which reached the spot and found Suhail lying dead in his bathroom. The South Cantonment SHO said that police were informed by the MP after 7:00pm on Friday last about the death of Suhail. He said the forensic examination implied that the man apparently died of natural causes around four days ago. He said there was no sings of forced entry into the one-kanal house and no such evidence was found which could establish the offence as cognizable. The SHO said police were waiting for the result of the postmortem report which would likely to be obtained on Monday, adding a murder case had been registered against unidentified person(s) on the complaint of victim’s wife. He said the victim was currently on leave prior to retirement (LPR).
