Hangu: 4 militants arrested, IEDs recovered
HANGU: The police on Monday recovered two improvised explosive devices and arrested two militants, a police official said. Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Gul Jamal said one Gulab Khan informed the police that a suspicious bottle was placed near the boundary wall of his house in Sifat Banda village.
He said the officials of the bomb disposal unit (BDU) were sent to the area and they found the bottle filled with explosive powder, which was connected with a detonator. The BDU officials defused the explosives.
Police also found an 18-kg explosive device near Ghalmina checkpost in the limits of Balyamina Police Station. The official sources said the security forces convoys and police van regularly pass through the road and the IED had been planted apparently to target them. The police launched a massive search operation after defusing the IEDs and arrested two militants identified as Anwar and Sadaat, both belonging to Orakzai Agency.
Our correspondent adds from Mingora: The police arrested two militant commanders in Swat district on Monday, official sources said. The sources said that acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Kanju and arrested a militant commander identified as Pai Muhammad son of Muhammad Ghulam.
Meanwhile, the police also arrested another militant commander Salim in Kabal tehsil. Both the militants were wanted to the law-enforcement agencies in cases of heinous nature, the sources added.
