Karachi: 2 target killing suspects remanded
Karachi: A suspected target killer, who has been nominated in a case under different sections, was produced in courts on Monday for remand.
Shehroz, an alleged member of a gang of criminals running an extortion racket in the Lines area, was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate (East) Zakauddin Abro under Section 13-D and was remanded to police custody till September 10.
The suspect was also produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate (Central) Maqbool Memon in the murder case of Dildar alias Iftikhar Bhatti. He kidnapped Bhatti and later slit his throat with the help of his absconding accomplice.
He confessed to having killed four other people in the Khawja Ajmer Nagri area — Umer, Chotu Khan, Rashid and Noreen.
Acting on information provided by him, police recovered Bhatti’s body from the New Karachi area where he had rented an apartment.
According to the prosecution, the gang comprised five men. Umair was the ringleader and his gang members were Shehroz, Mansoor, Khan and Asif. They kidnapped Dildar and took him to a rented house, where they killed him and kept the body in a wooden box.
In another court, Majid alias Kaloo was produced in a case pertaining to the target killing of several people in the Pak Colony area.
He was associated with the Lyari gang war. The Judicial Magistrate, West, Pir Asadullah Shah Rashdi, remanded him in police custody till September 8.
During interrogation, he confessed to killing several people on an ethnic basis. He also confessed that he kidnapped people and later killed them.
The same court sent the Taliban Commander in Swat, Akhter Ayub, alias Khan, to judicial custody till September 12.
He was involved in the killing of security forces. Police had also recovered one Kalashinkov, 15 rounds and 25 kilos of explosive materials from his possession. The CID police had arrested him from the SITE-A area on August 29.
