Lahore: Kidnappers confess to killing minor
Lahore: 2 accused persons, who were arrested by Naulakha police a few days back, have confessed to killing a seven-year-old boy on August 6, 2011, after kidnapping him for ransom.
The deceased was identified as Amanullah, the son of Karamat Ali of Pathi Ground, Naulakha. The accused had kidnapped Amanullah, a student of Class II, on August 6, took him to Kasur and demanded Rs 2 million ransom from the family for his release. However, they strangled the minor on the same day, without giving any time to the family.
A case was registered against unidentified persons on August 7 on the complaint of Karamat. Naulakha SHO Atif Miraj told The News that police had arrested the accused, Rafaqat and Shabbir, few days back from the Shadbagh area after Karamat had suspected their involvement in kidnap of his missing son. During the interrogation by the police, they confessed to committing the murder. They told the police that how they had committed the crime in Kasur and where they threw the body of the victim. The SHO said that the families of both the accused had also left their houses and fled to some unknown places. He said that Kasur police had recovered the body of the victim on August 7, 2011 and laid him to rest as an unidentified person. He said they had contacted to police concerned and collected the details of the case, adding that police would bring back the body after fulfilling legal requirements.
However, Inspector Muhammad Arshad, the Incharge Investigation of Naulakha police and also investigation officer of the case, expressed complete ignorance about the confessional statement of the accused. I do not know whether the missing child had been murdered or not, he said, adding that it was a rumour and police would investigate who had aired the news. SHO Atif Miraj refused to comment on the ignorance of the investigation incharge.
