Sabotage bid foiled in Lakki
LAKKI MARWAT: Police claimed to have foiled a sabotage bid in Darra Pezu on Tuesday and arrested twelve criminals in separate actions during the last one week. Police also recovered weapons and contrabands from anti-social elements in surprise raids.
“Police were informed that a suspect bag was lying on the road leading to Wanda Akbari near Tank Mor in Darra Pezu town,” said an official. The official said that police personnel immediately rushed to the area and surrounded the place where the suspected bag was lying.
He said that the bomb disposal squad was called in to search the bag. “An explosive device was found which was defused by the BDS personnel. An AK-47 assault rifle was also recovered from the bag,” he maintained.
A case has been registered against unknown miscreants under the relevant sections of law at Shaheed Haibat Khan police station, which has launched an investigation.
It is to be recalled that on the night of Sept 1, a devastating suicide car blast had killed three civilians and injured over two dozen others including policemen in Darra Pezu Town. The blast had also destroyed shops and damaged the houses and buildings of nearby houses.
Meanwhile, following the directives of DPO Gul Wali Khan, a police party of Lakki Marwat police station conducted a raid in Dhoda village and caught four proclaimed absconders identified as Ghulam Mohiuddin, Moeenuddin, Subhanuddin and Farooq.
Similarly, another police party of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station headed by SHO Asad Ali Shah arrested three outlaws in a surprise raid carried out on a suspected hideout of anti-social elements in Shahkh Quli Khan.
The arrested outlaws included Fareed Hussain, Rahimullah and Matiullah. In a separate action, the same police party arrested a man, Naqeeb, in Naurang Bazaar and recovered two bottles of wine from him. A case was registered against him and investigation was started.
Separately, a contingent of Tajori police station conducted raids on hideouts of criminals in Kotka Khanan and Sra Darga villages and arrested four wanted criminals. They were identified as Mohammad Nawaz, Mumtaz, Gul Nawaz and Noor Nawaz.
The arrested proclaimed absconders were wanted by police in murder, attempted murder and other cases of heinous nature.
