3 suspected Afghan nationals arrested
PESHAWAR: The traffic police arrested three suspected Afghan nationals and shifted them to an undisclosed location, police said on Wednesday.
A press release said that acting on a tip-off, the unarmed traffic police constables Fayyazullah and Hidayatullah controlled a vehicle at Safwat Ghayyur Chowk and arrested three suspected persons including Musa Jan, Nasrullah and Muhammad Hanif, residents of Afghanistan.
Earlier, it said SSP Traffic Mian Saeed Ahmad had informed the traffic police that a car bearing registration number LEF-999 would enter the provincial metropolis for terrorist activity.
There have been reports for the last four days that explosive-filled trucks and cars have entered the city for sabotage activity after which high alert has been ordered in and around the city. The strength of cops has also been increased on entry points to properly check the suspected vehicles and persons coming from the nearby tribal areas. The police have also closed roads in front of West Cantt Police Station in Saddar Bazaar and placed barricades around the links roads toward the Saddar Bazaar.
