Karachi: Cop among three lose life in separate incidents
KARACHI: Three people, including a cop, were killed in different incidents here on Wednesday. A police constable was gunned down in Bakra Piri area within the jurisdiction of Malir City police station.
The on-duty police constable, Mohammad Javed Iqbal, 28, son of Abdul Ghafoor, was returning to the police station after an official work at Evergreen Chowk when armed men shot once on his head and escaped. He died on spot.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy. A police official said Iqbal joined police force in 1995, adding that he was performing his duty at an investigation department.
The victim was the resident of Future Colony, Landhi and the father of three children. Further investigation was in process. Similarly, a man was shot dead in Machar Colony in the precincts of Docks police station.
Mumtaz, 32, son of Saifur Rehman, a resident of Gulshan-e-Sikanderabad, was going home with his son when two bandits tried to snatch his mobile phone but he offered them resistance. One bandit opened fire on him, resultantly he received bullet injuries and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for legal formalities. Police said the victim was an activist of ANP. Separately, police found the body of a young man packed in a gunny bag from the parking area of JPMC within the limits of Saddar police station. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained.
SHO Tassawur said some cut marks were also present on the neck of the victim who wore pent and shirt. The officer said the victim appeared to be Urdu speaking. No case was registered till filing the report.
