Five, including a woman, killed in separate acts of violence
KARACHI: Five people, including a woman, were killed in separate acts of violence in different parts of the metropolis on Thursday. A real estate agent was shot dead in Sultanabad within the limits of Manghopir police station.
Samiullah, 25, son of Abdul Ghaffar, a resident of Sector 3, Sultanabad, Manghopir, was going home on his motorcycle when two armed men shot him dead in Sector 2, Sultanabad.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. The victim hailed from Waziristan and was father of two children. Police said personal enmity might be behind the incident. No case was registered till filing this report.
In another incident, a man was shot dead at a hairdresser shop in Lasi Goth within the limits of Sohrab Goth police station.
Ghulam Rasool, 24, son of Haji Anwar, a resident of Machhar colony, finished bath at a hairdresser shop in Lasi Goth near Sada Bahar Hotel when two armed men shot him dead.
DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said the motive behind murder was yet to be ascertained; adding that the victim had no affiliation with any political or religious party, so personal enmity might be the cause behind the incident.
The body was brought to ASH for legal formalities and later handed over to his heirs. Police claimed that they had arrested three suspects Fateh Tunio, Ghaffar and Omar in the murder case and started investigation from them.
Separately, police found body of a man bearing torture marks near Mazar-e-Quaid within the jurisdiction of Brigade police station.
The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. Police officials said the victim had several torture marks and was killed with a sharp edged weapon.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. Police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of state.
Meanwhile, a man was shot dead in Nagan Chowrangi within the precincts of Sir Syed police station. Tauqeer, 45, son of Kamaluddin, was going on his motorcycle when two bandits tried to snatch his cell phone near Nagan Chowrangi, North Karachi. As he offered resistance, a bandit opened fire on him, resultantly he received bullet injuries. Police shifted him to ASH for treatment where he succumbed to the bullet injuries.
DSP Altaf Hussain said the victim was the resident of sector 11-E, North Karachi. He was an employee of Steel Mill. Victim’s nephew Shamshad Ali said that at the time of incident, Rangers mobile was present a few steps away from the site of the incident. No case was registered till filing the report.
In yet another incident, a woman died mysteriously at her house within the jurisdiction of Frere police station. Police found the strangulated body of Naheeda, 30, wife of Habib, from her house at Jamhoria colony. The police said quoting victim’s in-laws that she committed suicide with the help of ropes due to unknown reason.
The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. However, victim’s father Sadiq claimed that it was not a suicide but a murder. The police have detained victim’s husband and started further investigation.
