Karachi: The personnel of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), with the collaboration of police, apprehended two criminals and recovered an abducted person from their captivity on Thursday.
Khalid Noor, a senior officer of the CPLC, said that Waqas, 22, a medical student, was kidnapped from Link Road within the limits of Steel TownPolice Station on Sept 3, 2011 along, with his father Abdul Jabbar, a retired officer of the State Bank of Pakistan in a white Suzuki Alto VXR car.
The father was released within hours. The kidnappers contacted the family and demand a ransom of Rs7 million. Early Thursday morning, Waqas, was recovered safely without any ransom from the limits of Memon Goth P.S. after a joint operation by CPLC and Karachi Police.
He added that a team under the supervision of CPLC Chief Ahmed Chinoy and Karachi Police, after hectic search on a tip-off located the kidnappers’ hideout. When the raid was conducted, the kidnappers ran into the thick jungle with the victim but the CPLC and police party chased and overpowered them. Two of the accused were apprehended while search is on for others. A TTpistol and bullets were also recovered.
The kidnappers kept the victim constantly blindfolded. The apprehended accused have been identified as Mandost s/o Usman Marri and Mureed s/o Bahar Khan Bugti. The gang was involved in a series of kidnappingcases.
