8 target killers held in Karachi
KARACHI: The personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Sindh, claimed to have arrested eight target killers and recovered arms from their possession in several raids conducted in the city late on Friday night.
Police said investigation into target killings and extortion cases was under way when a tip-off was received that some target killers were present in the Sir Syed area, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Korangi Industrial Area and Machar Colony. The CID teams late on Friday night conducted raids and arrested eight suspects. Police also recovered two Kalashnikovs, one repeater, five TT pistols and one Hi-roof van from the possession of the accused target killers.
During initial probe, the accused were identified a Shahzad Hussain, Mohammad Hussain alias Hassan, Daulat Khan, Toor Gul, Baghi Khan, Abdul Ghaffor, Ali Mubarikh alias Ali and Azizullah.
SSP CID Sindh Mohammad Fayyaz Khan said that suspects were wanted to the police in numerous cases of target killings, extortion, robberies and street crime. One of the accused Daulat Khan told the police that a few weeks ago he, along with his companions, had killed Police Constable Shahzad Mathelo in Bakhrani Larkana, Sindh. Accused Toor Khan told the police that he was a hired killer and killed people for money.
Meanwhile, the Darakshan police foiled a robbery bid and arrested an accused in injured condition with arms. SHO Darakhshan Police Station Nasrullah Khan said that the accused namely, Ali Nawaz Lashari, has been arrested by Darakhshan and DHA vigilance teams after encounter at Khyaban-e-Mujahid, Delton Market when he was escaping after looting gold bangles from a woman. The accused was injured and is under treatment at Jinnah Hospital. Police had recovered looted gold bangles, a handgun and a motorcycle from his possession.
