5 people killed in different incidents in city
LAHORE: At least five people, including a sub-inspector, were killed in different incidents in the capital metropolis on Saturday. The police sub-inspector died in a road accident. The deceased sub-inspector was identified as Ashraf, who served as incharge police chowki Lahore General Hospital.
The sub-inspector was on a bike when a rashly driven car hit him from behind on New Airport Road near Bhatta Chowk. As a result, he sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police reached the spot and removed the body to the morgue. Police arrested the car driver, Hammad Rabbani, after the registration of an FIR.
Similarly, a 32-year-old woman, Shamim, received injuries when a bike rider hit her from behind near Shahdra Morr. She was shifted to a local hospital where she was said to be out of danger. In another road mishap, a 55-year-old man, Ashraf, received injuries when his bike slipped and collided with a footpath. He was shifted to a local hospital where he was said to be out of danger.
In the second incident, a 25-year-old youth was allegedly shot dead by three persons over a minor issue in Hunjarwal police limits.
The deceased was identified as Naveed Ahmad, son of Nazir Ahmad of Rinal Khurd. The deceased was an employee in a factory located near Thokar Niaz Baig. Naveed had differences with his colleague named Zaigham. Zaigum, along with his father Abbas and friend Asif Bhatti, reached the flat of Naveed and opened fire on him when he came out. He was shifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Police reached the spot and removed the body to the morgue for autopsy. Police registered a case against the three persons and managed to arrest Asif Bhatti.
In another incident, a father of four committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in his house over domestic issues in the limits of Sanda police.
The deceased was identified as Faqir Hussain of Fazal Colony Bund Road. As per details, Faqir Hussain had deteriorating matrimonial relations with his wife. The couple used to quarrel with each other over petty issues. On the day of incident, Faqir Hussain exchanged heated words with his wife and later went to his room and hung himself to death. The family informed the police, who later handed over the dead body to his family after legal procedure.
In another incident, a 65-year-old man was found dead near Shah Noor Studio on Multan Road. The deceased, yet to be identified, was lying dead alongside a road near Shah Noor Studion. Some passersby spotted the body and informed the police. The body was removed to the city morgue for autopsy. Police suspected that the deceased was a drug addict who overdosed on drugs.
A 48-year-old man was found dead in his house in Ghalib Market police limits. The deceased was identified as Ahsanul Haq of Faisalabad. Police said that Ahsan, a security guard at Mega Centre located at Main Boulevard, had been an asthma patient for the past few years. On the day of incident, his colleagues visited his room and discovered him lying dead. Police said that the family did not take legal action against anyone.
