5 target killing accused remanded in police custody till 13th
Karachi: Judicial Magistrate (West) Ashfaq Ahmed Nizami on Saturday remanded five accused of target killings to police custody till September 13.
The accused — Rizwan, Nisar Ahmed, Farman, Muhammad Hussain and Aqeel — were produced in the court of the judicial magistrate amid security. They were associated with the Lyari gang war as mentioned in the FIR registered against them.
All the five accused had been arrested by the CID police during a raid on their hideout in Ittehad Colony, Baldia Town. The CID police claimed to have recovered hand grenades, Kalashnikovs, TT pistols and a rifle from their possession.
Chinoy murder case: The investigation officer submitted a charge sheet through Assistant Public Prosecutor Syed Shamim Ahemd in the court of Judicial Magistrate (South) Hatim Ali Solgani against three accused in the murder case of Advocate Muhammad Murtaza Chinoy, 35.
Three suspects, Naveed John Bhatti, Sajid and Zahid have already confessed before the magistrate to their involvement in the murder. The court has declared Farhan Ahmed alias Farooqui an absconder in the case.
Chinoy, who was a high court lawyer, was killed by two men in his Zamzama office on August 25. During investigations, police found that the suspects had stolen Rs2 million savings certificates and a laptop of the lawyer.
