Rawalpindi: Handcuffed accused escapes from police custody
Rawalpindi: A handcuffed prisoner, allegedly involved in killing during a robbery, escaped from the Sadiqabad Police custody on Monday.
All three police officials responsible for his custody have been arrested by the Civil Line Police after lodging of an FIR against them. The city police officer (CPO) has ordered a departmental inquiry against the police officials and suspended them from service, police said.
Police said that the Sadiqabad Police arrested a suspect, Pervaiz, allegedly involved in killing a man during a dacoity. Three police officials — Tauqir, Asif and Faisal Shah — were deployed to take the accused to the District Courts in Rawalpindi. Police said that as the police officials entered into the District Courts premises, the accused escaped with handcuffs.
