Karachi: Target killing suspect held
Karachi: The police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a suspect involved in the killing of political workers. The suspect was arrested in a raid carried out by the personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Sindh.
SSP Mohammed Fayyaz Khan said that they had received a tip from a spy about the presence of a wanted target killer in the Mobina Town area.
Acting on the tip-off, a CID team conducted a raid in Scout Colony of Mobina Town and arrested Saleem Mehsud alias Deewra after a brief encounter. They also recovered a Kalashnikov from him.
The CID team immediately shifted the suspect to an investigation unit where Saleem Mehsud confessed to his involvement in target killings, the police claimed.
In his statement to the investigators, he admitted to killing two Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists) — Umair and Mansoor — in Mobina Town, according to SSP Khan.
The CID official claimed that the suspect carried out target killings in Gulshan and Mobina Town areas. Meanwhile, a search operation was carried out on Tuesday morning in Malir City by a joint team of police and Rangers. The law enforcers claimed to have arrested three suspects in the Muslimabad area of Malir City, recovering arms from their possession.
