Karachi: LEAs recover 18 apartments from land grabbers
KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Wednesday recovered 18 flats of Sanober Heights from the land mafia and handed them over to their respective owners. Heavy contingent of police and Rangers cordoned of the apartments situated at Sector X-2 Gulshan-e-Maymar.
DSP Sohrab Goth Iftikhar Lodhi said that a police party comprised of the personnel of different police stations took part in the operation. They recovered 18 flats and handed them over to the original owner but no one could be arrested and all members of land mafia managed to flee from the scene.
It may be mentioned here that Daily Times in a story published on Sept 12 informed that such operations are expected at some 32 areas of the city, including Bin Qasim town, Gadap town, Surjani town, Memon Goth, Baldia, Keamari, Hawks Bay, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Manghopir and Shah Latif town.
Besides, the authorities will also tighten the noose around well-known builders, who are hand in glove with the land mafias in this illicit business. Moreover, the authorities concerned had initially taken action against the land mafia of Gadap town while similar surgical operations may be conducted in future at aforesaid areas.
