Man bludgeons wife to death, two electrocuted in city
KARACHI: A man murdered his wife at Gulshan-e-Iqbal, while two people were electrocuted in different areas of the metropolis on Wednesday.
A man bludgeoned his wife to death at Quaid-e-Azam Colony within the precincts of Mobina Town police station. The incident took place in the wee hours of Wednesday, when Habibullah, a resident of Quaid-e-Azam Colony, Block 4-A’s slum went into an argument with his wife Aqeela, 32, and hit her with a hammer. The victim received a fatal blow on her head and died on the spot.
An official of Mobina Town police station said that after committing the crime Habib escaped from the scene. Area people called police upon hearing hue and cry from the house. Police reached the spot and shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
The police official said that the victim was a mother of four children and hailed from Rahim Yar Khan, adding that her elder daughter informed police that her father often beat the victim and today he hit her with a hammer, which proved to be fatal.
Habib is a painter by profession. Police have registered an FIR (339/11) on the complaint of victim’s brother Amir and initiated the probe.
In another incident, a man was electrocuted near his house at Jumma House within the jurisdiction of Kharadar police station. The victim, 40 year-old Zar Malook, son of Saleh Gabol, was a resident of Jumma House area, Kharadar. He was standing outside his home when he touched an electric pole and received the fatal shock. Body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for post mortem and later handed over to the family.
In yet another incident, another man was electrocuted at Hawks Bay Road in the limits of Mauripur police station. The victim, whose identity could not be ascertained till filing of this report, touched an electric pole at Hawk Bay Road, Mauripur and received the fatal shock. Body was moved to CHK for autopsy and later moved to the Edhi Morgue for identification.
