Karachi: 4 kidnappers arrested
Karachi: The Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) in collaboration with the Karachi Police on Thursday arrested four criminals involved in kidnapping-for-ransom cases.
Khalid Noor of the CPLC said that Dr Vasdev son of Jeeva Mal, aged 56 years, was kidnapped on July 30, 2011, when he was returning home from his workplace in Thatta. He was intercepted in Gulshan-e-Hadeed in the jurisdiction of the Steel Town police station at about 10:30pm.
The family initially received a call from the kidnappers for payment of Rs10 million as ransom for his release. An FIR was lodged at the Steel Town police station.
He added that the family contacted the CPLC for assistance. The CPLC and the Karachi Police formed a joint team for investigation. The investigation team under the command of CPLC Chief Ahmed Chinoy, and the Karachi police after surveillance of the identified area on the basis of information managed to locate the hideout of the kidnappers and place of detention of the kidnapee.
On Thursday the investigation team raided the hideout of the kidnappers in Memon Goth, Gadap Town and after a brief encounter arrested four accused namely Abdul Aziz son of Ghulam Hyder, Muhammad Usman son of Raza Muhammad, Ghulam Abbas son of Ghulam Hyder and Abdul Aziz son of Muhammad Yousuf.
Two 9mm pistols and one revolver have been recovered from their possession. The kidnapee was safely recovered without payment of the ransom money from his place of captivity. Further investigation is being carried out.
