Teenage student abducted
KARACHI: A teenage student, said to be a close relative of the Sindh High Court chief justice, was kidnapped in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Saturday minutes after he left his home, police said.
They said Faizan Ishtiaq left his apartment, situated in block 13-D of Gulshan-i-Iqbal near Hasan Square, in the family’s car (AKM 476) to buy some breakfast from a nearby bakery but did not return. Investigators later came across eyewitnesses who said they had seen Faizan riding the same car but along with two other persons after buying something from the bakery.
“The eyewitnesses said they saw the car speed away and negotiate a dicey turn,” said Inspector Ahsan Jutt, the SHO of the Aziz Bhatti police station.
“They also saw three people sitting in the car, though Faizan had come alone in the first half of the day. So apparently it seems to be a case of kidnapping as there has been no contact with the boy through any means for several hours after he left home.” He said Faizan was an A-level student and a close relative of SHC Chief Justice Mushir Alam.
The investigation, he added, was under way to determine the motive and people behind the incident. “We have registered a case (FIR 554/2011) under Sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified suspects on a complaint of the boy’s father, Ishtiaq Ahmed,” added the SHO.
