ISLAMABAD: According to sources, a number of federal and Rawalpindi police officers were involved in carjacking. Asim Asad, an official of Highway Police sold a Honda car bearing registration No LXO-8409 to Amjad in sector I-10 for Rs 650,000. Later on he sold a stolen black XLI bearing registration No LEB-3010 to a Captain of Pakistan Army and when disclosed that it was a lifted vehicle he used his father Asadullah Khan for a patch-up.
Presently, Inspector Malik, who is working in ACLC, is using that car. Asim himself has been using a car bearing registration No LEE-9570, which is registered in the name of Rabia Khatoon, daughter of Muhammad Akhtar. An FIR vide No 504 under section 302 was registered with Sadiqabad Police Station in which Asim was nominated in murder case over a dispute of vehicle, but police did not arrest him, which shows the influence of Asim and group behind him. Asim was suspended from service four times but he was reinstated every time. He pretends that his father is a high-ranking officer in Pakistan Army. While talking to this scribe, Asim Asad said that the allegations against him were not correct and it was impossible to protect car snatchers in such a big city. Asim said he was a responsible officer and could not do such crimes.
