Karachi: Rangers arrest 15 suspects
Karachi: Rangers personnel on Monday arrested 15 suspects in a house-to-house search operation conducted in different parts of the city.
Two extortionists belonging to a political party were arrested from the Tipu Sultan area, while AK-47 rifles were recovered from their possession.
The ranger’s personnel conducted a search operation in Qasba Colony and detained five suspects. In protest against the arrests, scores of residents took to the streets and staged a sit-in on the main arteries of the area to express resentment against the operation.
The rangers’ personnel carried out raids in different vicinities of Liaquatabad and detained seven suspects. They claimed to have recovered weapons, including two Kalashnikovs, five pistols (9MM) and a number of rounds from their possession. The arrested suspects were shifted to unidentified locations for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the rangers arrested 108 illegal Afghan immigrants near the Hub Check post in Saeedabad. Later, the arrested Afghan nationals were handed over to the Saeedabad police.
