Drugs smuggling unearthed at Karachi airport
KARACHI: Smuggling of narcotics in connivance with the Customs and other agencies deployed at Karachi Airport has been unearthed. The astonishing revelation was made by an accused, Ghulam Mustafa, held at the Jinnah Airport. In his confession statement, he said that he has been paying ‘bhatta’ to other agencies including Customs Preventive Customs Intelligence to carry out his business at the airport. According to the reliable sources, two important agencies were not made part of the challan revealed by the accused.
According to the details, the Customs Preventive recovered 73.5 kg heroin being smuggled in the garb of Unani medicines by the accused, who was to depart for Bangladesh on August 21. A case against three Customs officers was also registered who cooperated with the accused.
