Lahore: FIA officer’s bail plea dismissed
LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Aurangzeb on Wednesday dismissed bail petition of Assistant Director Federal Investigation Agency Khawaja Hamadur Rehman who was allegedly involved in a bomb hoax in FIA office.
The petitioner, through his counsel, contended that he was innocent and had falsely been implicated in the case. He said there was not a single evidence to connect him with the offence mentioned in the FIR. He said as being in-charge of security of zonal office of the FIA, he had received a threat and he took all necessary measures for protecting the government property and human lives.
The prosecutor strongly opposed the bail petition, contending that the petitioner was named in the FIR. He said the petitioner had informed Zafar Qureshi about the bomb threat on August 12 whereas alleged telephone call was received on August 13 which clearly showed mala fide intention and ulterior motives of the petitioner just to restrain Additional Director General Zafar Qureshi to perform his official duty. He prayed for the dismissal of the application.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge stated that petitioner had failed to establish any malice or mala fide on the part of the complainant or police.
As per FIR No 760/2011 registered against Assistant Director FIA Khawaja Hamadur Rehman under sections 25/29-D Telegraph Act and 182 and 186 of Pakistan Penal Code, during the proceedings of suo motu case before the Supreme Court of Pakistan, FIA ADG Zafar Qureshi on 16 August submitted statement that at night on August 12, Khawaha Hamad called him on telephone and informed him that there was information about bomb in FIA zonal Office building, Lahore, therefore he (Qureshi) should not come to the office on August 13.
