Islamabad: 3 kidnappers taken into custody
Islamabad: The Sabzi Mandi Police have arrested three men involved in kidnapping a trader and recovered ransom amount from them. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, SP (Industrial Area) Ishaq Warraich said that a trader of fruit market, Aftab Muhammad Abbasi, was abducted at gunpoint from Sector I-11/4.
He was taken to the rural area of Peepal in Mardan district. The kidnappers demanded ransom amount of Rs7.2 million from the family of Aftab Muhammad Abbasi.
Finally, the kidnappers agreed to take Rs2 million and got this amount from his family. He said that the captors have been identified as Arshad Abbasi, son of Nur Akbar Abbasi, resident of Sector F-8/1; Ahmed Raheem, son of Gul Raheem; and Zaristan, son of Gulistan, residents of Katling, Mardan district. The two accused have been transferred to Islamabad from Katling, Mardan, and police also recovered Rs570,000 as well as a motorcycle from their possession.
During preliminary investigation, SP Ishaq Warraich said that it has been learnt that other men were also involved in the kidnapping and a separate team has been constituted to ensure their arrest.
Highlighting the performance of Industrial Area Circle, SP Ishaq Warraich said that Industrial Area and Sabzi Mandi police stations busted four gangs of dacoits and drug-pushers and nabbed a total of 56 persons during the last one month besides recovering looted items worth Rs4 million, two cars, five mobile phones, 16 kilograms of hashish, 350 grams of opium, 232 wine bottles, 22 pistols of 30-bore and one 12-bore gun from them. The gangsters involved in dacoities and theft incidents have been identified as Waqas Shah alias Wiki, son of Zulfiqar Shah, resident of Qasimabad, Rawalpindi; Mohsin, son of Muneer; Qasiar Hussain, son of Maqbool Hussain; Aamir Hameed, Fazal ur Rehman, son of Muhammad Yaqub, residents of Rawalpindi; Kabeer Khan, son of Gulab Khan; Afsar Ali, son of Gohar Ali; Shahid Mehmud, son of Malik Hameed; Nazeer Ahmed, son of Ghulam Muhammad; Badal, son of Muhammad Akmal; Muhammad Khan, son of Raaz Muhammad and Muhammad Jameel, son of Taj Muhammad.
Two members of a gang dealing in fake currency were also arrested, who have been identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed, and Irfan Ullah, son of Ameer Ullah. Police also recovered fake currency notes worth Rs185,000 from their possession.
