Nowshera: Fake checkpoint dismantled, impersonators held
NOWSHERA: The police closed a fake checkpoint and arrested impersonators in Khairabad on Thursday, official sources said.
Following the public complaints, DPO Muhammad Hussain raided the checkpoint on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road at Khairabad and ordered the arrest of the impersonators, who were checking the passenger coaches and vehicles.
The police shut the checkpoint and seized the uniforms, caps and badges with monogram being used by the impersonators. The DPO directed the in-charge of Khairabad police post and Station House Officer of Risalpur Police Station Ismail Shah to visit other checkpoints on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway and GT Road. He said the act of troubling the passengers at the checkpoints would not be tolerated anymore. He warned of stern action against the SHOs if any police party was found checking the passengers through fake officials. He said there was no need to establish such checkpoints on the road and the police should establish checkpoint whenever needed. The sources said the impersonators belonged to Malayee Tola Group led by Zareef alias Zareefay.
