Taxila: Explosive material recovered
TAXILA: Huge quantity of explosive material was recovered by National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) from a deserted place on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M–1) near Burhan Interchange on Thursday.
Umar Shoaib Ejaz, spokesman for the NHMP said that Patrolling Officer Mohammad Khalid and Patrolling Officer Haroon Ahmed were on routine patrolling when they spotted some material lying on the side of the motorway. On search, the police officials found 199 bars of explosive material weighing 10 kg, 500 detonators of D-49 type and 1,250 meter detonator wire. On information, SSP National Highway and Motorway Police Asim Gulzar, DSP Hassanabdal Ch Mohammad Aslam and officials of bomb disposal squad reached the spot.
Later, the material was handed over to Hassanabdal police for registration of case against unknown culprits. According to the police sources, the explosive was locally made. The recovery put the police and law enforcement agencies on high alert.
