Gunmen kill police official in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Unidentified armed men riding a motorbike gunned down additional station house officer (SHO) of the Daudzai Police Station here Friday.
The police said that Sub-Inspector Mohammad Arif, the additional SHO of the Daudzai Police Station, was on way back to his office from a local court when two persons on a motorbike opened fire on him near Bakhshi Pul.
The official was killed on the spot after being hit by a bullet in the chest while other inmates of the car escaped unharmed. The attackers managed to escape.
The funeral prayer for the slain cop was offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines after which his body was sent to his village Mandani in Charsadda for burial.
Our correspondent adds from Miranshah: A political official kidnapped four days ago by unidentified gunmen from Miranshah Bazaar was found dead in Anghar Killay on Thursday night, official and tribal sources said.
The sources said that gunmen had kidnapped the Political Muharrir Muhammad Alam on Monday from the main bazaar in Miranshah , headquarters of North Waziristan, and took him to an undisclosed location.
The gunmen killed him and dumped his body in Anghar Killay. The locals recognised his body and informed the political administration. He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Hamzoni village.
Our correspondent adds from Dera Ismail Khan: Police foiled a bid to blow up an Afghanistan-bound oil tanker by defusing a bomb planted with the vehicle on the Indus Highway, police sources said on Friday.
