Peshawar: Weapons seized
PESHAWAR, Sept 24: Peshawar police claimed on Saturday to have seized huge cache of arms and ammunition and arrested the alleged smugglers during a raid at Karkhano Market on Saturday.
According to a police spokesman the weapons include 148 rifles, 103 simple repeaters, 20 pistols, 16 repeaters, 10 Kalashnikov like repeaters and 20 magazines.
The official said the weapons had been recovered from a godown. The accused Dost Mohammad of Shabqadar Halemzai and Khanimullah and Ahmed of Afghanistan were arrested.
The accused disclosed that they had planned to shift the arms and ammunitions to Punjab and Sindh.
The spokesman said a case against them had been registered at Hayatabad police station and efforts were made to ascertain if they had any link with the banned militant organisation.
