Karachi: 7-robbery man given bail as lawyer assures no repeats
KARACHI: A judge granted bail to a man charged with several robberies based on his lawyer’s assurance that he would not repeat history.
On Monday, Justice Muhammad Athar Saeed of the High Court of Sindh was hearing the request for bail by Syed Nazim Raza, who was booked by the Ferozabad police station under Section 392/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code for robbery. Justice Saeed asked the investigating officer to present the details of the cases.
The officer told the court that Raza was booked in seven cases, aquitted in two and the remaining were still pending trial. As mala fide intention and enmity against the police was alleged, the court asked Raza’s lawyer to give the assurance that if he were granted bail, he would not repeat history.
The prosecutor opposed bail, saying that it would only encourage Raza and would turn him into a killer. The court decided to grant bail while directing Raza’s lawyer to ensure he does not commit such crimes again.
