Karachi: Local JSQM leader held, arms seized
Karachi: Rangers’ officials on Monday arrested the area president of the Jeay Sindh Qami Mahaz (JSQM) and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession in the Sachal police limits.
The detainee was suspected of extortion as well as drug peddling. Sources said that based on a tip-off, Rangers’ personnel cordoned off the area and arrested District East President Basheer Khasheli of the JSQM during a house-to-house search operation.
Meanwhile, Colonel Shafiq Nazi, in a press briefing, said that Rangers’ personnel had arrested 246 suspects over the last 25 days. Those arrested included 128 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan, he said and added that the law enforcers seized 1,110 weapons and over 77,000 bullets from the possession of the suspects.
He said that apart from this, the Rangers officials conducted another 25 operations and arrested over 87 suspected and recovered over 900 weapons including LMGs, rifles, repeaters, hand grenades as well as 25,000 bullets. He said Rangers’ personnel caught 25 more people and recovered 120 types of weapons.
