Lahore: Rs 3.5m bank robbery
Lahore: Four robbers in police uniforms looted Rs 3.5 million in cash from a branch of Al-Faysal Bank located at Maulana Shaukat Ali Road near Jinnah Hospital in Garden Town police limits on Monday.
Four unidentified armed robbers reached the bank on a white corolla car which was parked few yards away from bank. The robbers first took security guard hostage and gave him a good thrashing. Later, they entered into the bank along with the security guard and collected cash from cash counter after holding the staff hostages. Soon after the incident, local police reached the scene and collected forensic evidence. Senior officers of Model Town Police Division and CIA also visited the bank and inspected the crime scene. They were six persons, one was covering his face while the others were without any cover, SP Malik Awais told The News. He further said that CCTV footage would also help in tracing out the culprits.
Four cops of Mohafiz Squad reached the crime scene on two bikes at the time of incident. They became confused whether they were security personnel or dacoits. In the meantime, the dacoits overpowered them and looted the cash within three to four minutes and fled the scene on a car bearing number 7449.
