Rawalpindi: Heroin smuggling bid
RAWALPINDI: The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Tuesday foiled an attempt of smuggling narcotics to Dubai and arrested a Zambian woman air passenger at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, the airport sources said.
The African passenger who was later identified as Ms Chilili Glandys, a Zambian national, was intercepted by the ASF`s lady sub-inspector Ms Naheed after she had been reportedly cleared by the Anti-Narcotics Force counter.
The woman was acting suspiciously during check-in of passengers for Dubai flight PK-211. During search, the ASF lady officer recovered heroin weighing 300 grams concealed around her body. Later she was handed over to the ANF staff for further interrogation. Meanwhile, a young man was shot dead by his rivals over a petty dispute in Rehmatabad on Tuesday night, police said. Muhammad Zahid, 22, was sitting at a shop when two motorbike riders appeared on the scene and shot him dead.
Police said Zahid had a brawl with two street boys — nicknamed Viki and Chirdi — a couple of days ago but the issue was settled by elders of the area.
