Islamabad: 17 criminals arrested
Islamabad: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has arrested 17 persons during the last one week for their involvement in dacoities, thefts and fraud cases, the police spokesman said here on Thursday.
SP (Investigation) Chaudhry Liaquat Ali had constituted a team headed by CIA In-charge Bashir Ahmed Noon, which managed to arrest 17 criminals belonging to four gangs. Five dacoits who were involved in snatching valuables from people at gunpoint were identified as Faisal Khalil, son of Muhammad Khalil; Aftab Hussain, son of Zulfiqar Hussain; Mubashir Ehtesham, son of Ehtesham ul Haq; Wajid Mehmud, son of Muhammad Afraz; and Muhammad Farooq, son of Muhammad Nafees. They confessed that they had committed robberies at the house of Muhammad Ramazan on January 12 (House 62, Street 94, Sector I-8/4), Dr Ayaz Ahmed Khan’s house in Shehzad Town on March 1, and the house of Allah Ditta of Shahzad Town on May 11.
Other criminals were identified as Javed Akhtar, son of Gulfaraz Khan; Mehr Bilal Hussain, son of Sher Muhammad; and Mehr Muhammad Qasim, son of Sher Muhammad. They confessed that they had fraudulently deprived people of their valuables. A Toyota Corolla car (ICT-QG-483) and a loading vehicle IDS-4386 were also recovered from them.
Police also arrested four thieves identified as Saleem, son of Muhammad Bux; Azmat, son of Muhammad Bux; Asghar, son of Muhammad Aslam; and Iqbal Hussain, son of Allauddin. They confessed ransacking House no. 182, Street 61, Sector F-10/3, of Muhammad Ali Sheikh and taking away gold ornaments and mobile phones worth Rs900,000.
Five pickpockets against whom FIRs were registered with the Industrial Area, Shalimar and Kohsar police stations were also arrested.
