Karachi: Moneychanger’s murderer gets life term
Karachi: A sessions court on Thursday awarded a life term to a man who was convicted of killing a moneychanger four years ago. The additional district and sessions judge (East), Tariq Mehmood Khan, convicted Zeeshan of killing a moneychanger in his office in November 2007.
The judge sentenced Zeeshan to serve an additional 14 years after the life sentence for an aggravated assault and a burglary connected to the 2007 murder of the owner of a money exchange company in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
The judge convicted Zeeshan to five years in jail in an attempt to murder case and awarded him a fine of Rs20,000. In case of non-payment the convict would undergo an additional four months of imprisonment.
In the robbery account, he was convicted of five years’ imprisonment with a penalty of Rs15,000 and three months more in detention if he failed to pay the penalty amount.
In another police encounter case, the judge awarded him four years’ imprisonment and a penalty of Rs10,000, and in case of default he would have to remain in jail for another two months. Soon after the conviction, Zeeshan was remanded back to prison.
