Peshawar: 5-member gang of dacoits arrested
PESHAWAR: The city police on Thursday arrested a five-member gang of dacoits and recovered Rs465,000 from their possession.
Addressing a press conference at Faqirabad Police Station, SP City Circle Imtiaz Shah said that the gangsters had looted the money from a local factory at gunpoint on Wednesday night.
He said the accused were identified as Javed of Sardaryab Charsadda, Ibrahim of Saeedabad Mansehra, Azeem Khan of Jabba Suhail, Zakir and Naseeb of Hazarkhwani Peshawar. He said the Police riders’ squad had arrested them on suspicious and then they disclosed names of their accomplices.
After the initial interrogation, he said the accused had disclosed that an employee of the factory Javed was also involved in the case, who had opened the gate and facilitated them in reaching the amount.
Sher Dad, the factory owner, said that four masked men entered the factory at about at 3am, tied them up with rope and took away the money. The SP said that two Kalashnikovs, three pistols and cartridges had also been recovered from the accused.
The SP said that most of the policemen had been deployed on the checkpoints and patrolling duties in the city areas were carried out with minimum personnel. The police officer said that the dacoity cases had increased but he would soon arrest the people involved in the rest of cases.
