5 killed in separate acts of violence, mishaps
KARACHI: Five people were killed in separate acts of violence and mishaps in different parts of the metropolis on Friday. A rickshaw driver was shot dead and four persons were injured in a clash in New Muzaffarabad Colony within the limits of Quaidabad police station.
The incident took place at Rehri Goth where five drivers were making a new rickshaw stand near an old stand one. As they parked their rickshaws, other drivers raised objection. The two groups clashed in which a young man Nazar Rehman alias Lal, 25, son of Abdul Mannan, died on the spot, while four others Wilayat Khan, Shareef Zada, Mohammad Siddique and Fazalur Rehman received bullet injuries.
Police shifted the body and injured to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Officials said that deceased Rehman was a resident of Rehri Goth and father of a child.
In other incident, a teenage boy was shot dead near his house in Manzoor Colony within the limits of Baloch Colony police station.
The 19-year-old victim, Waseem, was a resident of Liaquat Ashraf Colony. He was at his mobile shop when two bandits tried to snatch his mobile phone and money, but he offered them resistance. As a result, a bandit shot him dead on the spot. After committing the crime, bandits fled.
Police shifted the body to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. No case was registered till filing the report. Separately, police found body of a young man from Lyari River within the jurisdiction of Pak Colony police station.
The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. A police official said the victim appeared to be 21-year-old and his hands and legs were tied with ropes. He said that the victim received one bullet in his chest and bore several torture marks.
Police said unidentified men kidnapped him from unknown place and after murdering, threw his body in Lyari River. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for postmortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. Police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of state and initiated a probe into the case.
In a road accident, another teenage boy was crushed to death by a vehicle near Jumman Shah shrine within the limits of Soldier Bazaar police station.
The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. He was going on his motorcycle when a speeding trailer No TKU-011 knocked him to death.
Police have arrested responsible driver Riyaz and shifted the body to CHK for legal formalities. In another road accident, a man was killed and four others were injured near Gizri flyover within the limits of Clifton police station.
Police said a truck developed a fault and was parked near Gizri flyover. Noor Mustafa, 25, started to rectify the fault of the truck but it slipped from the jack and killed him. It also injured Waheed, 25, Dildar, 16 and two others. The body and injured were shifted to the JPMC.
