Police registered 1784 cases against illegal weapon holders
Lahore: Lahore Police registered 1784 cases and arrested 1790 culprits during a special campaign against illegal weapons in last four months.
Police recovered 18 Kalashnikovs, 92 rifles, 344 guns, 119 revolvers, 1620 pistols, 19 carbines, 35 daggers and hundreds of bullets from their possession.
According to police sources here, Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir has directed for intesnsifying crackdown launched against illegal weapons to rid the city of crime and criminal elements.
He pointed out that comprehensive security could not be ensured without cooperation of the people and citizens, therefore it was essential for them to help Lahore Police in identifying suspicious elements present in their surroundings and inform the police on Emergency 15.
He said concrete steps were being taken to make police corruption-free in provincial metropolis, so that people could be assured of provision of prompt and timely justice.
Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have arrested five people for possessing illegal weapons and recovered two pistols, several bullets and two mobile phones from their possession.
Meanwhile, PHP found three missing boys identified as Muhammad Shakir (9), Naseeb Ali (15) and Yousaf Khan (10) and after tracing out their homes addresses and handed over them to their parents.
