18 prisoners released from Malir Jail
Karachi: The 18 prisoners, lodged in Malir Jail, who had completed their sentence but were languishing there for being unable to pay fine amount, were released after Saiban, a non-government organization (NGO), made the payment.
The prisoners had informed the District & Sessions Judge Malir Imdad Hussain Khoso during his visit to the jail along with Saiban officials Haider Ali Haider, Fateh M Qureshi, Jail Superintendent Nazir Hussain Shah and others that they were still in jail for being poor and unable to pay fine amount. On this the NGO chairman Haq Nawaz Akhtar arranged the payment. Many prisoners submitted applications for review of court decisions and also for early hearing of their cases.
