Karachi: Young man found shot dead
KARACHI: The bullet-riddled body of a young man, stuffed in a bag, was found in a graveyard in a North Nazimabad locality on Monday, police said.
They said that some residents of Dir Colony, located within the remit of the Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police station, informed the police about the body in the graveyard.
Area SHO Arif Razzak said that that body was packed in a parachute bag. The victim, later identified as Moiz Siddiqui, was subjected to torture before he was shot dead, he added.
He said that the scene of crime suggested that the victim, who was in his early-forties, was killed somewhere else and the body was dumped in the graveyard, as no bloodstains or spent bullet casings were found there. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The area SHO said that the police relayed a message about the recovery of a body with some description and subsequently the Paposhnagar police station contacted the Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police as the victim’s family had lodged a disappearance report there.
The police said that the victim’s wife and his cousin had come to the Paposhnagar police station on Monday afternoon to lodge a report regarding Moiz’s disappearance. They told the police that he had left his home on Sunday evening, but didn’t return. His cellphone was also switched off, they added.
The deceased was a resident of Paposhnagar’s Sector 5-A. He was associated with computer hardware work, but had been out of work for the past few months, the police said. The body was handed over the family after legal formalities were completed.
However, till late in the night, an FIR pertaining to the killing could not be registered at the Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police station as the family was busy with the victim’s funeral, the police added.
