Rawalpindi: 5 students, guard injured in gun attack
RAWALPINDI: At least six students and a security guard received bullet injuries when some armed persons launched an attack against students of a private college at 6th Road here on Monday. Soon after the incident police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured persons to Holy Family Hospital (HFH) for medical treatment. The attackers managed to escape from the scene, informed police. The injured persons identified as Firdos Khattak, Faizan, Farhan, Atif, Danish, Haider (all the students) while the name of sixth student could not be confirmed, said police.
According to police, Israr Khan son of Faiz Ali resident of Kartar Pura, who also injured in the attack, lodged a complaint with Police Station (PS) New Town that he is studying in Jinnah College of Computer Sciences in I.Com.
At 12 p.m., he along with his other fellows were leaving college for home when four armed persons Raja Nomi, Moheen Abbasi, Talat Bhatti with other accomplices started firing over them with pistols in which he, five students and college’s security guard injured.
Police registered case against the accused and started investigation. However, police could not arrest any of the culprits till the filing of this report late Monday night. Parents of the injured children demanded of police to arrest the culprits involved in this heinous crime as soon as possible.
