Lahore: Married woman found strangled at her home
LAHORE: A 22-year-old married woman was found strangled at her residence under mysterious circumstances here in Shahdra Town area, police said on Tuesday.
Police investigators said that the mother of a baby boy, later identified as Iqra Bibi, was lying dead on the bed in her room as they reached their residence located in Siraj Park area. Her in-laws contacted the police after they broke open the door and saw her body hanging from the ceiling fan. The deceased in-laws told the police they had removed the body from ceiling fan as she committed suicide with the help of a scarf. They further said that the woman committed suicide over some domestic issue.
However, parents of the deceased told the police that Iqra’s in-laws strangled her to death. The police have removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. Further investigations were underway.
Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir has said that every citizen will have to play his due role in ensuring rule of law in the City. CCPO said that the matters, in police department, are tackled not in individual manner but as teamwork. He said the business community is the backbone of the society and provision of conducive-atmosphere to the trading community for their business, is highly essential for the progress and prosperity of the country.
According to a police spokesman, CCPO Ahmad Raza Tahir stated this while talking to a 10-member delegation of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCCI), which called on at his office on Tuesday. LCCI Secretary General Syed Saqlain Naqvi headed the delegation, comprising members of the LCCI.
