Law student jailed for five years
KARACHI: A court on Wednesday sentenced a law student to five years imprisonment in a robbery case. The court found Basharat, a second-year student at a law college, guilty of robbing a woman and her daughter in March 2010 within the remit of the Khokhrapar police station.
An assistant additional district and sessions judge (east) also imposed a fine of Rs10,000. According to the prosecution, the accused along with his two absconding accomplices had deprived Rasheeda and her daughter of cash and cellphones at gunpoint. A police patrol arrested Basharat while his associates fled.
A case (FIR 154/10) was registered under Sections 392 and 34 of the PPC. The accused, who had been out on bail, was taken into custody and sent to prison.
