Security guard foils dacoity bid in MCB
Rawalpindi: Continuing their rampage, the gangsters took away gold ornaments, cash and vehicles to the tune of millions of rupees in 7 hits in different areas of the city on Wednesday, police said.
A security guard sustained multiple bullet injuries when two gunmen attempted to loot the Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB) at Naz Cinema Chowk but he foiled the attempt, police said.
Two gunmen entered into the bank and held the staff of the bank at gunpoint at about 4.00 p.m. but the security guard who had been disarmed by the gangsters intercepted them and clutched on of the gunmen. Consequently, the other dacoit started firing at the security guard. However, they (gunmen) ran away without looting the bank. The security guard was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital in critical condition.
At Chakra Road, located in the jurisdiction of Westridge Police Station, four dacoits looted a house after making family members hostage and took away cash with 19 tolas of gold ornaments. The police have taken up the case on the complaint of Suhail Ahmad and started investigation.
Two bike-riding muggers snatched gold ornaments from two young girls at Fauji Colony, Pir Wadhai who were coming back home after attending a marriage ceremony. The muggers held Mehnaz and Marym at gunpoint and snatched 8 tolas of gold ornaments in broad daylight and ran away.
Five vehicles including four bikes were lifted from the jurisdiction of Ganjmandi, New Town, Sadiqabad (two) and Cantonment police stations.
