Karachi: Man gets life term for killing neighbour
KARACHI: A sessions court awarded a life term to a man on Friday for killing his neighbour over a personal enmity. Tahir killed his neighbour Rana Shahid in the year 2003 over a personal issue.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (Central) Soofia Latif announced her verdict after hearing arguments from both sides and found the accused guilty of the offence.
She also announced a fine of Rs0.2 million and in case of default the convict would have to spend another six months in jail.
The convict who was already in jail was remanded to prison along with conviction warrants. In her final observation, the judge said that the prosecution was successful in bringing the guilty to the book and the chemical and medical examinations along with the statements of witnesses also corroborated that offence was committed.
According to the prosecution, both Tahir and Shahid entered into an altercation over some personal matter, which resulted in the death of Shahid. Tahir got infuriated and slit his throat with a knife. Also on Friday, Additional District and Sessions Judge (West) Irfan Ahmed Mayo awarded three years’ jail to Shahid and a Rs20,000 fine for attempting to kill a policeman last year.
