Lahore: 353 gangs busted
LAHORE: Police claimed to have busted 353 gangs involved in heinous crimes and arrested 1,143 criminals in the provincial metropolis in five months of the current year.
As many as 2,016 cases were traced against the arrested accused during this period. The Lahore police also arrested more than 16,000 Proclaimed Offenders and court absconders.
A meeting, chaired by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir, was informed about this. The CCPO was informed that Lahore Police had registered 2,375 cases and arrested 2,384 culprits during the campaign against illegal weapons and recovered 21 Kalashnikovs, 115 rifle, 401 guns, 2,066 pistols, 166 revolvers, 29 carbines, 09 mouzer, 43 daggers, 254 magazines and more than 98,700 bullets.
Ahmad Raza Tahir also directed the officers for taking priority based steps against drug peddling and elimination of other heinous crimes in the city.
