210 street criminals arrested this year
ISLAMABAD: Police during the current year arrested 210 alleged street criminals in its special campaign to curb street crimes and also recovered looted items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, 170 mobile phones and 23 cars from their possession.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan prepared a special plan to curb street crime and directions were issued to all superintendents of police (SPs), sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and patrolling officers for effective policing as well as vigilance in their areas. As per that plan, the police officials also obtained record of those persons ever remained involved in street crimes and their monitoring was ensured.
City police arrested 43, Saddar police arrested 94 and Industrial area police arrested 43 while rural police nabbed 30 street criminals during the ongoing year. IGP has appreciated the performance of police.
