Additional secretary killed in Quetta attack
QUETTA: The provincial Additional Secretary for Food, Muhammad Idrees, was shot dead and his son wounded in a target killing incident on the Kassi Road on Friday night.
Police said that Muhammad Idrees was sitting along with his son at a shop on the Kassi Road when some unidentified armed men attacked them. Eyeswitnesses said that unknown armed men barged into the shop and sprayed bullets from lethal weapons, targeting Muhammad Idrees and his son Muhammad Aizaz.
The attack was sudden and intense and the victims sustained multiple bullet injuries. The secretary succumbed to his injuries on the spot. On being informed, the police reached the spot. The victims were shifted to hospital where doctors declared the additional secretary dead while the son’s condition was stable, hospital sources said. The incident created tension in the provincial capital and a large number of people thronged the Civil Hospital.
APP adds: In the incident, a pedestrian, Saeed Ahmed, was also injured by the unknown gunmen riding a motorbike.
