Karachi: 100 acres wrested from land grabbers
Karachi: The anti-encroachments squad of the CDGK during a raid on Saturday recovered 100 acres of land worth about Rs500 million near the Northern Bypass.
The recovered land which is located in Keamari and Gadap Town was allotted by the Board of Revenue for relocation of wholesale markets near the Northern Bypass.
The operation was overseen by EDO Revenue Ganhor Leghari, DO Revenue Shoukat Jokhio and head of the anti-encroachments cell Irfan Bahadur.
The anti-encroachments squad razed concrete structures and boundary walls with heavy machinery as no resistance was seen during the action.
Cleanliness drive: The remaining six towns will be covered during the final round of the cleanliness drive in the city starting from Monday (tomorrow). The campaign will conclude on October 15 on completion of the cleanliness work in all 18 towns.
Addressing a meeting in this regard in the DCO Camp Office on Saturday, Administrator Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed said that Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani would check the performance of the cleaning staff during a visit of the remaining six towns in the last week of the cleanliness campaign.
